the making of uluru

so where did uluru come from?

way back when there was a huge lake in the middle of australia. a number of sedimentary layers of rock got laid down at the lake bottom.

since then there's been a bit movement in the earth, including the pushing and buckling of the layers.

so much movement that one end has been pushed out of the ground, and we call this end uluru. the vertical stripes are the original horizontal layers, turned around 90 degrees.
